What Is a Passport Size Photo Maker?
A visit to a photo studio for two passport-size photos costs ₹50–₹150 and requires travel, waiting, and the possibility that the photos don’t meet the exact specifications your document requires. This tool produces the same output in two minutes from home — a print-ready sheet with 6–8 passport photos at 300 DPI, ready to take to any local photo print shop on a phone or USB drive.
India-specific passport and document photo sizes:
Getting the dimensions exactly right is critical. An incorrect size is one of the most common reasons passport applications, visa submissions, and government form uploads get rejected at the verification stage. Indian government documents have specific requirements that differ from international standards, and this tool has all of them pre-configured.
For Indian passports, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) requires a 35 mm × 45 mm photo with a plain white or off-white background, neutral expression, both eyes open, and no shadows on the face or background. This is the correct size for Passport Seva portal applications and physical passport applications. An older 51 mm × 51 mm (2×2 inch) size is still accepted by some systems and is identical to the US passport photo requirement.
PAN card applications require a 25 mm × 35 mm photo. Aadhaar card and general KYC document submissions typically use the same 35 mm × 45 mm dimensions as the passport. India visa applications for some countries require a 35 mm × 35 mm square crop. All of these sizes are available in the Photo Size dropdown — select your document and the crop tool locks to the correct proportions automatically.
How to Make a Passport Size Photo Online
Step 1 — Upload your photo Drag and drop your photo onto the upload area or click Select Photo to browse from your device. JPG, PNG, and WebP files are supported. Use a clear, front-facing portrait with even lighting for the best result.
Step 2 — Crop and adjust Select your document type from the Photo Size dropdown — India Passport 35×45mm, PAN Card, Aadhaar, USA, UK, or any other supported format. The crop tool locks to the exact aspect ratio for that document. Drag, zoom, and rotate the crop box to position your face correctly. Adjust brightness and contrast if needed.
Step 3 — Choose background color Select white (standard for most Indian documents), off-white, light blue (used for some visa applications), or use the color picker for a custom color.
Step 4 — Set up the print sheet Choose your paper size — 4R (4×6 inch) is the most widely available at print shops across India. Set the number of photos per sheet and whether to include cut marks (thin guidelines that help cut the photos cleanly after printing).
Step 5 — Generate and download Click Generate Sheet to create the printable layout. Download as JPEG for sending to a print shop, or as PNG for digital submissions. You can also download a single photo if you only need one for an online application.
Why 300 DPI matters for printing:
DPI (dots per inch) determines how sharp a photo looks when printed. The standard for professional photo printing is 300 DPI. At 300 DPI, a 35×45mm passport photo is 413×531 pixels. At lower DPI, the same pixel count would produce a soft, pixelated print. This tool generates sheets at 300 DPI, ensuring print-shop quality output.
Saving money on passport photos:
A sheet of 8 passport photos printed at a local photo studio from a 4R print file typically costs ₹20–₹40. Compared to ₹100–₹150 for two studio-made photos, you get four times as many photos at roughly one-quarter the cost. Take the downloaded JPEG file to any print shop that does 4R photo prints — most large cities in India have these available at stationery shops, photo studios, and even pharmacy chains.
